The independent greyhound track in the Devon city of Exeter was situated at 3° 32' W 50° 42' N and raced for 53 years before closing in 1986. The track at the County Ground Stadium in Cowick Street first opened for racing in 1935. It was a tight circuit with circumference 370 metres. Sprints were run over 250 metres, standard races over 440 metres, distance races over 620 metres and marathons over 810 metres. The principal races at the track were the Exeter Spring Cup, the Exeter Derby and Exeter St Leger. |
